Art Deco 18ct White Gold & Platinum, Shaped Sapphires & Diamond Ring by Alabaster & Wilson

108W

Written by Olly Gerrish

For more than 100 years, Alabaster & Wilson Ltd were based in Birmingham and closed in 2018. They symbolised expert craftsmanship and the manufacture of very fine jewellery in England and have made high quality pieces for many of the leading jewellery companies such as Cartier. This is an unusual Art Deco ring made by them that is typical of the geometric style of the 1920s. The Art Deco period was a reaction to the flowing botanical motifs that had gone before and was a much bolder period. This ring is true to the new style and has been set with two baguette sapphires with canted sides with two small diamonds at either end and a line of diamonds in the centre. There is millgrain detail throughout. It sits low on the finger and curves beautifully around it. A special ring that would make a stunning engagement ring.
