The use of agate in jewellery dates back to the Stone Age. arrow brooch which was made circa 1860 in Scotland for the burgeoning tourist trade that had sprung up when Queen Victoria purchased Balmoral Castle. There has been real thought put in to the placing, cutting and colour of the agates. The sleek design translates well in the 21st Century.
