19th Century 14ct Gold & Blue Enamel Snake Necklace

576M
865 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

A beautiful and very wearable snake necklace that was made circa 1880 in Austria. The snake has a friendly face with ornate Royal blue enamel, engraving on the gold and cabochon ruby eyes. The body is flexible and the clasp is to the rear. There is a safety chain for added security. The snake motif in antique jewellery represented “Eternal love and wisdom”, so pieces such as this necklace would have been a gift from an admirer.
