18ct Gold, Red Spinel & Diamond Cluster Ring

Written by Olly Gerrish

Spinels date back to approximately 100BC as they have been found in Buddhist tombs in Afghanistan. The Romans also favoured them and used them in rings etc. They were fashionable in the Renaissance period and in the 18th century. This ring is not as old probably around 40 years old !  However it has been claw set with a beautiful pinkish red spinel that weighs just under one and a half carats. It is surrounded by ten well matched claw set Old European cut diamonds that have an estimated total weight of one and a half carats. The bifurcated shank gives the ring a lighter look. It is an amazing look when worn.
