Meghan Markle’s Engagement Ring: Get the Look

The daring Duchess Meghan Markle makes statements everywhere she goes including her jewellery, let's get a look at her engagement ring.

Meghan Markle has captured the world’s attention with her impeccable style and elegance. From her fashion forward choices to her royal wedding, everything about Meghan seems to exude a perfect blend of star power and grace. And nothing has been more searched for, or admired than her stunning engagement ring. Let’s take a closer look at Meghan Markle’s engagement ring, her redesigned version, and the additional bands that now complete her iconic stack.

The Original Engagement Ring

Meghan and Prince Harry announced their engagement on November 27, 2017, during an iconic photocall at Kensington Palace. Meghan’s engagement ring immediately caught the world’s attention. Designed by Prince Harry himself, the ring features a three-carat cushion-cut centre diamond from Botswana, a place that holds special meaning for the couple. The centre stone is flanked by two smaller diamonds, each just under a carat, from Princess Diana’s personal jewellery collection. This sentimental touch ensures that Diana’s memory would remain close to Harry and Meghan’s journey.

Set on a yellow gold band, Meghan’s favourite, and created by royal jeweller Cleave and Company, the ring is both elegant and meaningful. While different from Kate Middleton’s sapphire engagement ring, Meghan’s more understated style perfectly complements her personal aesthetic.

DID YOU KNOW?
While white gold or platinum are more common for engagement rings, Meghan Markle prefers yellow gold!

The diamond’s quality and size, according to experts, suggest that the centre stone alone is worth between £75,000 and £120,000. This is because the side diamonds add significant value with their connection to Princess Diana.

The Redesigned Engagement Ring

In 2019, Meghan’s engagement ring was given a subtle makeover. As the Duchess prepared for the birth of her son, Archie, Harry commissioned celebrity jeweller Lorraine Schwartz to update the ring’s band. The simple gold band was replaced with a delicate micro-pavé diamond band, adding extra sparkle. Meghan debuted the redesigned ring at the Trooping the Colour Parade in June 2019, just after the couple announced her pregnancy.

Meghan’s Wedding Ring

On May 19, 2018, Meghan and Prince Harry were married at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. During the ceremony, Meghan received a yellow gold wedding band, also crafted by Cleave and Company. The gold for the ring was a gift from Queen Elizabeth II and continues the royal tradition of using rare Welsh gold for wedding bands—a custom that began in 1923. Meghan’s wedding ring joins the tradition shared by other royal brides, including Queen Elizabeth, Princess Diana, and Kate Middleton.

Meghan’s Eternity Band

At the aforementioned 2019 Trooping the Colour Parade, Meghan debuted a third ring—an eternity band. The band was a surprise gift from Harry to mark their first wedding anniversary and the birth of their son. It was also designed by Lorraine Schwartz. The eternity band features conflict-free diamonds in a channel setting, with gold trim on either side. To add a personal touch, the ring includes each of their birthstones—peridot for Meghan, emerald for Archie, and sapphire for Harry—symbolizing their growing family.
