In the Art Deco period there was a great fashion for Far Eastern ideas and art, so pieces of jewellery were designed to reflect this as well as furniture and fine art. Confucius was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher. His philosophy emphasised personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity. He espoused the well-known principle “Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself”.
