It is 15ct gold and a beautiful buttery yellow colour. It opens to reveal two glazed locket compartments. The scallop shell is a very early symbol that was used to point pilgrims on their way to Santiago. It also represents the rebirth of the soul so this locket was likely a mourning piece as both meanings point to the soul on it&#8217;s journey. One of the glazed compartments contains a woven lock of hair with braided gold detail.
