A pretty egg that has been enamelled in a pale blue colour over silver foil beneath. It was made circa 1910 and is possibly of Russian origin. The Russian Easter egg tradition dates back to pre-Christian times when people saw eggs as fertility symbols and as symbols of protection. Eggs represented renewal or new life.
