Victorian Rose Diamond Cluster Earrings

546M
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual pair of rose diamond earrings, made circa 1880-1900 possibly in Holland. They are each set with a central large rose diamond with two bands of rose diamonds around it. They have secure hinge back fittings. Rose diamonds have a special look as they are cut to a point in the centre with facets that reflect the light in a completely different way to conventionally cut diamonds. The result is a hard greyish glint that looks fantastic, especially when worn in a candle lit setting, which is what was originally intended.
