Victorian 9ct Gold Albertina Bracelet with Enamel Bird Motif

693U
Written by Olly Gerrish

These ornate chains known as Albertinas were originally intended to be worn through a button hole and down to a pocket with further items like keys and a watch attached.  Nowadays they are worn as bracelets as they look so attractive.  This 9ct gold example has an unusual slide that has an enamelled shield with a bird motif on one side and an engraved  flower motif on the other side.  There is  also a tassel that adds extra interest. A fun bracelet to wear that was made circa 1880.
