Victorian 18ct Gold Signet Ring set with a Bloodstone with Griffin Crest Intaglio

337U
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual 18ct gold signet ring that was made circa 1860-1880.  It is an unusual design with two entwined snakes with engraved detail around the top and continuing around the shank.  Snakes stand for “Eternal love”.  It has been set with a bloodstone with an intaglio of a griffin and the latin words  “Quod Tuum Tene”  meaning “Keep what is your own”.  It is the family crest for the Cheetham family.

I love the snake detail on this ring!
