Victorian 18ct Gold, Sapphire & Diamond Three Stone Ring

731L
Written by Olly Gerrish

A pretty 18ct gold late Victorian ring that was made circa 1880-1900. It has been set with a central old mine cut diamond in a gypsy star setting, with a sapphire on either side in square settings. On either side there are millgrained edges. The literal translation for millgrain, a french word, is a thousand grains. When used in jewellery it refers to a decoration on the edges of the surface and is achieved by using a knurling tool. This adds extra detail to this sweet ring.
