Victorian 18ct Gold, Peridot & Diamond Carved Half Hoop Ring

440P
Written by Olly Gerrish

A good looking three stone peridot and diamond ring that was made circa 1880. The peridots are well matched stones. Peridot is named after the French word “peritot”, meaning gold, because the mineral can vary towards this colour. It is also the birthstone for the month of August and is the stone given to celebrate the 16th year of marriage. In between the peridots are old mine cut diamonds and small rose diamonds. The shank is called a carved half hoop because of the scroll work on either side. It would make a lovely dress or engagement ring.
