Victorian 18ct Gold Pendant set with Turquoise, Natural Split Pearls & Diamonds with Locket on the Reverse

317X
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

This is a beautiful 18ct gold pendant that was made circa 1860-1880. It has been set with well matched natural split pearls surrounded by turquoise, old mine cut diamonds and rose cut diamonds in a criss cross design. On the reverse is a glazed locket. The bale has also been set with graduated turquoise. Turquoise was often used in the Victorian period as not only was it a colourful stone but it sent a message to “Forget me not” after the flower of the same name.

When worn the diamonds add that extra special sparkle.

Ollys Pick

A gorgeous survivor from the Victorian era.
