Victorian 18ct Gold Old Mine Cut Diamond Five Stone Ring

554U
Written by Olly Gerrish

This is a lovely five stone ring that was made in Birmingham in 1865. The gold has been set with five well matched diamonds with a total estimated weight of over one . Unlike modern diamonds, old mine cuts are square or rectangular in outline with high crowns which produce flashes of colour known as ‘fire’. The ring sits low on the finger and curves around nicely. It would make a perfect engagement ring.
