Victorian 18ct Gold, Five Stone Diamond Ring

884S
Written by Olly Gerrish

A good looking 18ct gold ring that has been set with five well matched old mine cut diamonds. The diamonds are protected by a band of gold on either side. It has a kite mark inside the shank During the Victorian Era a diamond-shaped design Registration Mark (1842-1883), known as a “kitemark” was used on jewellery and other decorative arts. These marks were stamped to indicate the date a particular design was registered, similar to a patent mark. Kite marks were replaced by Registration Serial Numbers in 1884 so this ring was made prior to 1884. It would make a pretty engagement ring as it sits low on the finger and curves around it nicely.
