Victorian 18ct Gold Carnelian Intaglio of a Crest Signet Ring

562P
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

An 18ct gold and carnelian men’s signet ring that was made circa 1840-1870. The large oval banded two tone carnelian, an orange variety of chalcedony, features a finely carved intaglio of an armorial crest. It is composed of two fleur de lis, one within a tilted  shield and a helmet above. It is most likely a French Coat of Arms. This is set into a wide tapered 18ct gold band that has been carved with decorative repoussee detail typical of the late Georgian and early Victorian period. This ring can be resized, though please note there may be an additional charge to increase by more than three sizes.
