Victorian 15ct Gold Round Garter Brooch set with Almandine Garnets & Natural Split Pearls with Glazed Locket on the Reverse

751R
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A beautiful 15ct gold brooch that was made circa 1860-1880. It is in the form of a garter which represents loyalty, protection, and strength. As a symbol of mourning, the garter holds the memory of a loved one close. So this brooch could have been given as a token of love or remembrance. It has been set with well matched almandine garnets with small natural split pearls in between. On the reverse is a glazed locket that can be used to hold a photograph. It is in excellent condition
