Retro 9ct Gold Zircon Cluster Earrings

726S
Written by Olly Gerrish

Zircon is the oldest mineral on Earth, dating back more than 4.4 billion years. Blue zircon was popular during Victorian times then in the 1920s, heat treatment became customary practice to enhance the colour of zircon gemstones for jewellery. While zircon is a popular gemstone among collectors for its range of colours, consumers seem most enamoured with the blue variety. These 9ct gold and zircon cluster earrings were made in the 1930-1940 period and are a wonderful evenly matched colour. They have clip on fittings as between the two world wars few people had their ears pierced.
Zircon is the birthstone for December.
