Regency 18ct Gold, Briolette Cut Diamond & Emerald Ring

619P
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual and well designed gold ring that was made circa 1830. It has been set with a briolette cut with an on either side then a rose diamond. The Briolette cut is associated with the group of rose cuts. Most briolettes have triangular and hexagonal facets. This creates a surface with lots of sparkle and lots of colour from the stone. It is one of the oldest cuts in the world, dating back to at least eight hundred years ago and is usually used to cut white diamonds. The sweeps up to form foliate and claws to hold the stones.
