Portuguese 18th Century Silver, Gold & Rose Diamond Acorn Drop Earrings

53N
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual and original pair of articulated drop earrings that were made circa 1780-1800 in Portugal. They have gold backs and silver fronts and have been set with rose cut diamonds with three acorn drops on each earring. The acorn is a symbol of fertility and immortality, probably because they are the seeds of the “mighty oak” so these may have been a wedding gift. The ear wires are hinge backs so they enter the ear from behind. They look amazing when worn

Ollys Pick

Love these earrings especially with the acorn drops
