Platinum, Rectangular Aquamarine & Diamond Ring

822N
Written by Olly Gerrish

This is a stunning aquamarine ring that was made in the 1950s. The shank is platinum. The aquamarine is a rectangular emerald cut stone. The name Aquamarine comes from the Latin aqua marinus, meaning “water of the sea,” and refers to its sparkling ocean-like colour. The pale blue, transparent crystal is a member of the Beryl family. Its colour, sometimes bluish green, is caused by iron oxides within the chemical makeup of the stone. On either side is a baguette diamond set on a slant with a brilliant cut diamond beside it. It is a lovely design and would be ideal either as an engagement ring or a dress ring.
