Platinum Art Deco Zircon & Diamond Ring by Birks of Canada

232N
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A very good quality platinum ring that was made in the 1920s and retailed by Birks in Canada which is a well known fine jewellery firm. It traces its origins to the opening by Henry Birks of a small jewellery shop in Montreal in 1879. It has been set with a rectangular cut zircon. Zircon is the oldest mineral on earth and is found in the crust of the earth. It was a popular stone in the 1920s so we see a lot of zircons in jewellery from that period. Zircon is also the birthstone for september. It is surrounded by small round diamonds with baguette cut diamonds on either shoulder. It would make an unusual and beautiful engagement ring.

Ollys Pick

I love the special blue colour that is typical of a zircon
