Georgian Triple Band Rose Diamond Opening Ring

867M
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual and rare Georgian ring that divides in to three bands when opened. I can only assume that it is based on “Fede” or “Gimmel” rings that normally open to reveal two hearts. Gimmel from the Latin ‘gemellus’ means twin. The ring is comprised of three rings held together by a centre pin at the base, allowing the ring to swivel open. The shank is 9ct gold and the top is silver. The top has been set with rose diamonds in leaf form on either side with a central section composed of three rose diamonds. It was made circa 1770. This ring cannot be sized.
