Georgian Diamond Cluster Ring with Split Diamond Set Shoulders

251S
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

This magnificent Georgian diamond cluster ring is alive with the romance of the Rococo period. In around the middle of the 18th century, the flower, the sweetest of motifs, became popularised in jewellery, particularly rings. Known as ‘giardinetti‘ or ‘little garden’, the bezels were often composed of a bouquet of many smaller flowers, but this example features one single cluster of cushion cut diamonds, held between bifurcated shoulders, also diamond set, and modelled as leaves. With around one and half carats of diamond, it is rare to find such an indulgent example of the style. What a statement.
