Georgian 9ct Gold, Flat Cut Almandine Garnet Drop Earrings

542W
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

earrings are hard to find and this pair is pretty stunning. They were made circa 1820 and have been set with large flat cut garnets. These types of garnets exhibit a wonderful purplish red colour and were popular in the Georgian period as they looked like rubies when worn in candle lit settings. The garnets were sliced thin, with fine facets on the edges and foiled with coloured red to give them a rich red lustre. They are as wearable now as they were then.

Ollys Pick

We all love these beautiful earrings.
