Georgian 18ct Gold Ring with Emblems of the Ionian Islands

160P
Written by Olly Gerrish

This 18ct gold ring was made circa 1815. It comprises seven small medallions, each with a small design incised and some letters. A lyre, figure with hands raised, a face, a trident, table, longboat and seated figure. They are emblems of the Ionian Islands. It has a plain shield shaped section in the centre. There is a similar example in the British museum. This ring cannot be sized due to the design.
