Georgian 18ct Gold Acrostic Ring with Gemstones That Spell Regard

A very pretty gold late ring that was made circa 1800-1820. It is composed of a pansy which is a pun on the French words “Pensee a moi” which mean “Think of me”. The stones are , , , , Ruby and a in the centre. The first letter of each stone spells “Regard”. The has foliage shell and flowers motifs on the . There is also a small glazed locket on the reverse that would have orinally held a lock of hair.

These rings were highly popular in the early 1800s and were given as tokens of love.
