French Belle Epoque 18ct Gold, Platinum, Ceylon Sapphire & Diamond Cluster Ring with Diamond Set Shoulders

480R
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

This is a very pretty oval cluster ring that was imported into France circa 1900-1910. It has been claw set with a lovely Ceylon sapphire. The blue sapphires from Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) are referred to as Ceylon Sapphires. They are known for being lighter, brighter, and more vivid than the dark blue sapphires that come from other countries. Sri Lanka has some of the world’s oldest sapphire mines. Blue sapphires have been mined there as far back as the second century A.D. The sapphire is surrounded by well matched old mine cut diamonds and there is a further diamond set in to each of the shoulders. It would make a perfect engagement ring as it is such a wearable ring and sits low on the finger
