Edwardian 9ct Gold, Sapphire & Diamond Etruscan Style Bangle

602R
Written by Olly Gerrish

A good looking gold bangle that was made in Chester in 1907. It is an unusual design with a ribbon design across the centre set with a and two rose diamonds. There is further Etruscan gold work leaves , bobbles and curves with two three leaf clovers set with sapphires. with applied gold wire work in the Etruscan style and a rope work edging. This archaeological style was popular in the 1860-1880 period as a large excavation had taken place in Italy. The gold pieces that were discovered influenced many jewellers to copy the design, the most notable being Castellani. The style carried on in to the period so this bangle is a lovely example with fine detail
