Edwardian 9ct Gold Oval Shaped Locket with Swallows & Flowers Motif

939P
Written by Olly Gerrish

A very pretty 9ct gold oval shaped locket that was made in Birmingham in 1912. It has been engraved with two swallows with a branch of flowers on one side. The reverse has been engraved with more leaves and flowers. It opens to reveal two areas for photographs. The swallow was considered daring, risk-seeking, and a symbol of change for good in the future. It also meant “Everlasting love” and “loyalty” as swallows mate for life. What a lovely sentiment to pass on to someone that you love
