Edwardian 9ct Gold Locket with Swallow & Rose Garland Motif

235T
Written by Olly Gerrish

A charming gold locket that was made in Birmingham in the early 1900s.  It has been engraved on both sides with a swallow and a branch of roses. The swallow was considered daring, risk-seeking, and a symbol of change for good in the future. It also meant “Everlasting love” and “loyalty” as swallows mate for life. The rose branches emphasise love.  It opens to reveal a compartment for a photograph.  A perfect gift to someone that you love.
