Edwardian 9ct Back & Front Octagonal Locket with Swallow & Flower Basket Motif

978N
Written by Olly Gerrish

A pretty octagonal shaped locket that was made circa 1910. On one side it has a swallow sitting on a flower sprig, on the other side a flower basket full of flowers. The swallow was considered daring, risk-seeking, and a symbol of change for good in the future. It also meant “Everlasting love” and “loyalty” as swallows mate for life. The flowers are a gift of love too. It is back and front locket. This means that the hinges and inner rims are metal for strength, and the back and the front of the locket are 9ct gold. A lovely gift to someone you love.
