Edwardian 18ct Two Colour Gold & Silver Novelty Brooch of a Bird on a Branch With Two Mistletoe Sprigs in Original Case

A beautiful novelty brooch of a songbird sitting on a branch with a sprig of mistletoe on either side. The bird has been studded with graduated rose diamonds and has a tiny eye. The mistletoe has also been set with rose diamonds and two pearls. The branch is yellow gold and the claws are 18ct yellow gold and the diamonds have been set in . Historically, mistletoe represents romance, fertility, and vitality so this novelty brooch may have originally been given to a lady by an admirer. It comes in the original case and was retailed by the Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Company who had been awarded the Royal Warrant and were based in 112 Regent Street.London.
