Edwardian 18ct Gold, Synthetic Pink Spinel & Rose Diamond Ring

277L
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual Edwardian ring that was made around 1900-1910. It is set with a vibrant yet subtle pink stone which was made by a process. Auguste Verneuil was a lab assistant in Paris in 1873 and went on to discover the technique of making synthetic stones. This ring is a good example of what should be a pink sapphire but still looks the part! It has split shoulders that are set with small diamonds. The whole effect is beautiful at a fraction of the price of a natural stone.
