Edwardian 18ct Gold Ring set with a Topaz

664X
Written by Olly Gerrish

Topaz is very sought after and quite a rare stone. It is quite different to a citrine. The name imperial topaz is said to have originated in 19th century Russia, where the Ural Mountain mines were an important source of topaz reportedly reserved for the royal family. The warm orange of the stone goes beautifully with the colour of the 18ct gold in this ring. Around the topaz are engraved rays like the sunny stone that it is.

The simple rub over setting give this ring a simple elegance and the bifurcated shoulders lighten the look.
