Edwardian 18ct Gold Double Snake Ring set a Ruby & a Diamond

818R
Written by Olly Gerrish

A very special 18ct gold double snake ring that was made in Birmingham in 1902. There is a small diamond in each eye of one snake and a small ruby in each eye of the other. In each of the snake’s heads is a ruby and a diamond. It is a heavy gage and feels good when worn. The snake motif in antique jewellery represented “Eternal love and wisdom”, so pieces such as this ring would have been a gift from an admirer.
