Edwardian 18ct Gold, Carved Half Hoop Five Stone Opal & Rose Diamond Ring

114T
Written by Olly Gerrish

Opals are a favourite stone of mine and were particularly popular in the early 1900s.  This 18ct gold ring has been set with five well matched and very lively opals and was made circa 1900-1910.  Above and below each opal are diamond points, as they are known, because they give that subtle lift to the look of the ring.  The sides are carved with a scroll motif adding lovely detail.  It curves around the finger nicely so it is comfortable to wear either as a dress ring or an engagement ring.
