Edwardian 18ct Gold, Cabochon Sapphire & Diamond Ring

323P
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A very pretty white and yellow gold ring that was made circa 1900-1920. It has been set with a Royal blue cut . A cabochon is a stone that is cut with a highly polished, rounded or convex top with no faceting and a flat or slightly domed base. A cabochon may be cut in any shape, though oval is by far the most common. It is designed to show off the colour of the stone. The term comes from the French “caboche”, meaning knob or small dome. It is surrounded by ten well matched white diamonds. It would make a marvellous engagement ring.

Ollys Pick

We don’t see many rings set with sapphires so this ring is quite special.
