Edwardian 18ct Gold, Cabochon Moonstone & Diamond Cluster Ring with Diamond Set Shoulders

178N
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual 18ct gold ring set with a large three carat cabochon moonstone within a frame of diamonds and diamond set shoulders. It was made circa 1900-1910. In the early 1900s jewellery set with moonstones was very popular as it went with the ivory coloured lace and soft coloured satin clothes of the time. Moonstone is the birthstone for the month of June and the stone traditionally given in celebration of the 13th anniversary of marriage. The stone was also prized by the Romans, who thought it was magically formed out of moonlight. It is a very pretty look when worn and would make a wonderful engagement or dress ring.
