Edwardian 18ct Gold, Burma Ruby and Diamond Scroll Ring

245S
Written by Olly Gerrish

The luminosity of a ruby inspired the idea that, if dropped in water, it would cause it to boil. Its intense, inner fire is mesmerising, and it is a trait no more apparent than in the celebrated stones from the Mogok Valley in Burma (modern day Myanmar).
This pretty little 18ct gold Edwardian ring proves that the Burmese ruby does not need to be enormous in size to be impressive in colour. Measuring under a carat in size, it has been obliquely set between a trefoil of small diamonds, but it still dominates the ring. This is a lovely example of a gemstone that rightly symbolises passion.

It was ring that was made to be a gift of love.
