Edwardian 15ct Gold, Oval Blue & White Enamel Pendant with a Glazed Locket

871S
Written by Olly Gerrish

A pretty 15ct gold pendant that was made circa 1900-1910. It has been enamelled with Royal blue enamel in the centre with a white enamel surround punctuated with small rose diamonds and gold quatrefoils. The blue enamel is Guilloché enamel which is a technique that was popularised in the 1880s by Peter Carl Fabergé amongst others. The surface is engraved with an intricate repeating pattern and then covered with glass enamel. This sunburst pattern reflects light through the blue enamel in different ways depending on the angle. Mounted on to the enamel is a stylised quatrefoil set with rose diamonds and an oval surround also set with small rose diamonds. The reverse of the pendant has a glazed locket compartment. A stunning pendant to wear on a medium length chain.
