Pair of Early 20th Century Diamond and Demantoid Garnet Ear Studs, retailed by David-Andersen

150S
Written by Olly Gerrish

Small yet perfectly formed, these beautiful little and ear studs are likely to date to around 1920. Even though they only measure 11.5 mm in height, the attention to detail is exquisite.  The scrolls have been delicately set with three accent diamonds, with the leaves engraved to add texture, and the banner of garnets, in contrast, are set in yellow gold. The posts have secure screw on butterflies.  For everyday wear or a sophisticated dinner date, these earrings would fit right in.

The earrings are sold with their original David Andersen Company fitted case, address Hofjuvelerare Stockholm, Fredsgatan 4. David Andersen was a celebrated Norwegian and goldsmith from the late 19th century. On his death in 1901, his son took over the company and elevated its reputation and influence, working with many talented contemporary jewellery designers, and keeping the company at the cutting edge of style.
