Early 20th Century Belgian 18ct Gold Signet Ring with Intaglio of Weeping Hearts & Spades

241T
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual 18ct gold signet ring that was most likely made in Belgium and imported in to France circa 1900-1910.  The shield shaped surround has two weeping hearts and two spades engraved inside. Weeping hearts were originally worn as amulets to protect against the evil eye and from witches stealing milk or harming newborn babies.   This ring is a tiny size so it would only fit a pinky finger. It can be sized up but not by very much.
