Early 20th Century 18ct Gold, Colour Change Sapphire & Transition Cut Diamond Cluster Ring

447W
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A stunning 18ct gold ring that has been set with a just under two carat colour change sapphire that displays purple hues. The colour shift is from blue in daylight to bluish-purple in incandescent light. Blue sapphire is coloured by iron and titanium. The violet colours are because there are traces of vanadium. It is surrounded by twelve old mine cut diamonds that have a total estimated weight of just under one carat.  It was made circa 1910 and was imported in to France.

It would make a marvellous engagement ring.
