Early 20th Century 14ct Two Colour Gold Laure Leaf Tie Pin set with a Diamond

109 S
Written by Olly Gerrish

A good looking 10ct gold tie pin that was made circa 1910 in America. It is composed of a circle of laurel leaves with a claw set diamond in the centre. The symbol of the laurel wreath goes back to Ancient Greece. In Greek mythology, the god Apollo, who is patron of lyrical poetry and musical performance was conventionally depicted wearing a laurel wreath on his head. In Rome the laurel leaf crowns were symbols of martial victory. Napoleon also adopted the laurel leaf when he was victorious in battle in the 1800s. What wonderful symbolic meanings in this lovely tie pin.All our tie pins come with a stopper at the end of the pin.
