Early 20th Century 14ct Gold Snake Ring with a Diamond in it’s Head & Emerald Eyes

185W
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A beautiful heavy gage 14ct gold open coiled snake ring that was made circa 1910 in Germany.  Snake designs have featured in ancient designs in jewellery but were really popular from the early 1800s onwards. The snake motif represented “Eternal love and wisdom”, so pieces such as this ring would have been a gift from an admirer. This snake has a brilliant cut diamond set in to his head and two small emerald set eyes. The body has been engraved with scales and the head has incised detail. It can can be worn by either sex.
