Art Nouveau 18ct Gold & Opal Ring

369N
Written by Olly Gerrish

A lovely 18ct gold ring that was made in America circa 1910. The top has been pierced in a detailed design around a predominantly blue and green opal with flashes of red. Opal is the birthstone for the month of October. It is also the stone given to celebrate the 14th year of marriage. The name opal is derived from the Sanskrit upala, meaning precious stone, and later the Greek derivative Opallios, meaning to see a change of colour. It would make a wonderful dress ring.
