Art Deco Platinum Ring set with an Asscher Cut Diamond with Step Cut Shoulders set with Baguette Cut Diamonds

570U
Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

This is a gorgeous Art Deco ring in great condition. It is made in platinum and has been claw set with a stunning  early Asscher cut diamond that has an approximate weight of 0.90 carats and is a lovely icy white colour. The Asscher cut diamond shape is named for the company that created it. Joseph Isaac Asscher founded the I.J. Asscher diamond company in Holland 1854, naming it after his son. That son would go on to enter the diamond business like his father, and establish one of the most famous family dynasties in the diamond world. The Asscher cut was actually invented in 1902 by Joseph Asscher who received a patent for the cut, protecting it up until WWII.  When this cut is produced there is a lot of wastage so it is one of the most expensive diamonds around and early Asscher stones are incredibly rare to find. This ring was made circa 1920-1930 and is utterly beautiful!
