Art Deco Platinum, Natural Saltwater Pearl & Diamond Drop Earrings

351N
Written by Olly Gerrish

A stunning pair of drop earrings set with small diamonds in settings, each one terminating in a . The pearls are a well matched creamy white colour. (or wild) pearls, formed without human intervention, are very rare. Many hundreds of oysters or mussels must be gathered and opened, to find even one wild pearl. For many centuries, this was the only way pearls were obtained, and why pearls were very expensive at the time and why they now fetch such extraordinary prices. These earrings were made circa 1920. They come with a gemological certificate that confirms the size and shape of the pearls and that they are natural saltwater pearls.
